Brief biographical note

As a student, two of my projects were presented at the Biennale of Venice, in 2002, in the section Italian Schools of Architecture. Then, I started a collaboration with the department of Architecture and Urban Design for some research projects and participated in different design and architectural international competitions. I collaborated with my professor in two projects which were selected to be presented at the Biennale of Venice in 2006, and published in the Biennale’s catalogue and on other various specialised publications. I worked with another architectural studio for a project which was presented at the same Biennale and has been published as well. In 2007, along with my professor and our team, we won an international competition for a nursery school / kindergarten in Rome. This project has been published in several specialised journals.

In 2009 I got my Master Degree in Architecture with 110/110 cum Laude.

In the same year, after taking the relative exam and having obtained my professional license (RIBA and ARB equivalent and fully recognised), I enrolled to the National Board of Italian Architects and I started my own architectural practice, which I have retained ever since. Meanwhile, I won a Ph.D. scholarship in Architecture and Urban Design and I started to work as assistant professor for architectural and urban design courses, being also tutor for several classes.

During the first year of my Ph.D., I’ve attended the Postgraduate Certificate in European Spatial Planning at the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape at Newcastle University, and successfully obtained the certification.

I then focused on my research project about Urban Regeneration and Sustainable Design, providing insights about architectural design and projects, developing part of the national research that my department won in 2008.

I’ve also attended many international design workshops and collaborated to set up various exhibitions involving prominent figures in architecture, such as Mario Botta, Franco Purini and Daniel Libeskind, with whom I’ve been in touch and developed graphics design for his lectures.

I have taught as an Autodesk teacher in cad design and architectural design and rendering courses in AutoCad and 3D Studio Max at specialised schools.

I am interested in professional photography and I won a photographic competition about urban decay and legality on the edge of urbanisation.

I also have good skills in sketching and drawing by hand: I attended a workshop at the National Institute for Graphics in Rome for architectural etchings / engravings, which ended with an exhibition of the participants’ engravings, who were, among others, Massimiliano Fuksas, Franco Purini and Santiago Calatrava, and a publication in the form of a catalogue.

I worked as a Design Architect for a big firm in Sydney, achieving important results in the Sydney area and in China.

In 2014 I successfully completed my Ph.D. in Architecture and Urban Design, with a thesis about Architectural Criticism through Photography, related to Urban and Landscape Regeneration issues, and I have therefore achieved my Doctorate Degree.

When I was in China,  I was a Senior Architect / Senior designer and I worked as a Design Director for Hordor Design Group, leading several teams in the achievement of the best possible design. With them, I landed several major development which are under construction right now and will soon be completed. I was also involved in the international relationship amongst the company and foreign firms (we have collaborated with OMA,  Aecom, Fentress and many others big international groups), and in the global restructuring of the company.

I am also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Xiamen University of Technology (XMUT), where I am teaching to 3rd and 4th grade students (being the forth grade in China their final year) architectural design studio and architectural theory and more recently I have been appointed main supervisor for the entire architecture curricula.

Currently I work as Managing and Design Director for Alessio LLC in Sharjah, U.A.E., an international Architectural and Interior Luxury Firm, mainly involved in high quality private residential projects, hospitality projects, mansions and public building of wide national interest.
